Why we created Smiles

And then just maybe our favorite city, traditionally full of frowning faces, can become just a little more cheerful and we can all live better together.

On harmonica’s team there are quite a few parents and we talk about the kids a lot. We discuss what we see at the park or in the playground – the way parents treat their children and the kind of snacks they’ll give them on the go. So we naturally embarked on a mission to create a yummy alternative to the usual playground snacks, in line with our beliefs.

As usual, we picked the most popular product kids love to munch on in the playground – extruded cereal puffs. We replaced the ubiquitous corn with chickpeas and rice and we chose several flavours to please everyone – grannies, daddies and tiny tots alike. And of course it’s all organic. In the trial stage we experimented a lot and ate through  sackloads of different recipes and shapes until we were positive we’d chosen the best. The kind of snack that would be perfect to enjoy in the playground but also between meetings at the office or with a pint of good craft beer.

Our next job was to find them a name that would just be incompatible with expressions like: „If you fall down again, I’ll slap your face!“ or „How many more times do I have to punish you?“ You know the kind of attitude we’re talking about. So we thought why not just slightly bend the shape of our puffs and call them SMILES. Hopefully they’ll bring more smiles to parks, playgrounds and bars all around.

And then just maybe our favourite city, traditionally full of frowning faces, can become just a little more cheerful and we can all live better together.
