This time the awarded product is our choco ghee Gourmet spread.

Harmonica choco ghee Gourmet spread was awarded with a star at the Great Taste Awards 2018, one of the most prestigious international accolades for food and beverages. Harmonica is the only Bulgarian company that won a star from Great Taste at both the 2017 and the 2018 edition of the contest. Last year’s star was for our rose cordial.

Also known as the food Oscars, Great Taste Awards are a standard and guarantee for the highest taste quality of the awarded products. This year at the UK-based competition there were over 12,600 products from all over the world, evaluated by hundreds of industry experts. The degustation jury comprises of food critics, chefs, restaurant owners, food manufacturers, nutritionists as well as journalists.

During the degustation and evaluation phase, the experts focus entirely on the taste of the product. That’s why all competing foods and beverages are presented without packaging and brands. Each product is first given to a group of 3-4 experts for degustation. Once their ready with their opinion, the product moves on to a second evaluation from members of the jury. In order to earn a star in the contest, the food or beverage needs to possess a remarkable and outstanding taste, compared to the rest of the products in its category.

Here’s some of the jury’s opinion, which eventually won harmonica Gourmet a star from Great Taste:

“There is an initial dark hit of cocoa on the nose and palate, the sweetness is nicely judged and it melts pleasantly in the mouth“.

„A deep brown chocolate color with a great melt in the mouth creamy chocolate flavour and texture. Tastes great quality“.

„Thick deep chocolate appearance with a surprisingly smooth texture. Bitter chocolate flavour that has complex notes and allows the chocolate to sing out.”

The key to the outstanding taste of choco ghee Gourmet is a simple recipe, pure organic products and a winning combination of efforts and patience. For 6 months, our team has been conducting a series of tests, searching for the perfect balance between cocoa and coconut butter. The quest for the distinct chocolate flavor didn’t take place without sweet “sacrifice” – over 30 kg of chocolate were eaten while searching for the right combination of products. The result includes: 50% organic coconut butter and 50% organic cow milk ghee, organic cocoa beans, organic unrefined cane sugar, agave inulin.
